Wi-Fi Campus Network to Be Built

An alliance of companies (Airpath, Bluesocket, National Joint Powers Alliance, and Broadband Alliance) has announced that they will build a nation's first, coast-to-coast, inter-campus Wi-Fi network.

The network will be called "Education First Network" and students and educators of K-12 and higher education campuses with existing Wi-Fi access will be able to log into any other member campus' educational wireless network via the Education First Network.

When an educational institution joins the Education First Network, the institution will receive roaming revenue from commercial carriers. These funds will be dispersed through the National Joint Powers Alliance and the Broadband Alliance directly back to the institution.

This way, every member campus will become accessible to students, staff, and faculty via this network.

If this networks works optimally, it can become a great way to share resources and bring extra revenue to the participating educational institutions.
