VHS to DVD Recorders VHS to DVD recorders allow recording from VHS to DVD in one device. However, geographical availability of these combos is limited, with at least Panasonic E70V available with this feature.
The E70V is a combination of VHS VCR and DVD-RAM recorder, especially designed for you to digitally save analog home video library on DVD media. The device, available at least in select Far Eastern countries, has a built-in VCR that allows you to archive non-copy-protected VHS tapes to DVD with the ease of touch of a button. Its dual tuners also allow recording of two TV channels at the same time. Panasonic has revealed that the same model will be introduced in the U.S. as well. In addition to the combo feature, you can record to DVD disc from VHS with two separate devices, a VCR and a DVD recorder, and a set of cables to connect the two. VHS to DVD Recorders – Copying with Cables You can use your old VCR with the new DVD recorder to make back-up copies of your VHS tapes. To make this work, you have to connect the DVD and VCR devices into each other via the video output (VCR)/video input (DVD Recorder). If you don’t have the enthusiasm to convert all those old VHS tapes in to DVD yourself, there are many “no frills” VHS to DVD copier services out there, with price of these services plummeting all the time (as DVD Recorders for home are becoming more popular).
