34 Percent of Families on a Vacation Have a Laptop with Them

According to a survey by Intel, 34% of families that go on a holiday have a laptop with them.

Why? One of the top reasons is to gather information from online sources about the destination while there.

With the new local information services, such as Google Local or Yahoo! Local, you can get pinpoint information, directions, and reviews done by locals about restaurants, entertainment events, etc. at your destination.

And as almost all (standard quality) hotels carry a Wi-Fi hotspot, traveling families can get the information while on vacation.

In fact, the Wi-Fi hotspot coverage in the U.S. is excellent. You can find Wi-Fi hotspots from, for example:

most Holiday Inn hotels

many McDonald's restaurants

at your local Starbucks cafe

Other reasons why families decided to take a laptop with them to the vacation included checking and sending work-related email, checking personal e-mail, and entertainment such as movies, music and games.
