Utah Leads the Nation in Terms of Home Computers

According to a recent census report, about 3 out of every 4 Utah homes have a computer, the highest rate over all of the states. Nationwide, computer and Internet usage are up significantly.

However, in terms of homes with Internet connection, Utah comes at 5th place, with 63% of homes having access to the Internet.

You might wonder why Utah has such a high relative usage of Internet and home computing.

According to the census report, some of the reasons include the fact that Utah has the lowest median age, the largest household size, and one of the highest educational attainments.

In short, Utah has become a very tech-savvy state.

The critics of the reports have pointed out that the census report is based on data from the bureau's October 2003 Current Population Survey, the bureau's latest information on computer and Internet use.

This makes the data already two years old and many say Americans' computer habits have already radically changed from the survey.
