Text Picture Messages

Text picture messages, or ASCII SMS messages, are pictures build out of simple text characters. These messages were particularly popular before Nokia's picture messaging took off, or more recently, as MMS messages conquered ground.

SMS pictures are usually free to make by yourself, and they are as easy to send to friends as normal SMS messages are.

There is also pre-made content available for this category too, and you can find lots of new ideas for your own text pictures from the commercially available ones.

Europeans took to the whole SMS craze well before the U.S., and that's why you can also find a great variety of text picture messages from German and Italian sources.

Text Picture Messages - Using Them

To be able to use these text based picture messages, you need a cell phone that supports SMS, plus a cell phone plan that supports sending and receiving them.

Also, make sure that the receiver is able to get the text message.

Another thing to remember is that if you send one of these SMS pictures to an email box, the picture may view incorrectly at the email window.

Europeans, particularly Scandinavians, have been sending these messages with text based pictures on Christmas, for example. You'll find a lot of variety to choose from for other holidays as well.
