satellite cell phone services

Motorola and WorldGate are developing a technology that will use videophone calling over satellite broadband connections using the Motorola Ojo personal videophone. These new technologies, as developed by the two services will allow a broad range of new phones to take advantage of new satellite TV services, which can bring satellite TV to your cell phone.

Similarly to the co-operation done between Motorola and WorldGate, SK Teletech, which is the handset manufacturing subsidiary of South Korea's SK Telecom, has been developing a cell phone, capable of receiving satellite TV broadcasts.

Unlike Motorola/WorldGate satellite TV cell phones, the SK Telecom IMB-1000 cell phone will be available very soon, in fact, by the end of April 2005, according to the company.

If you're located in South Korea, expect to pay around USD690 (about KRW702) for the satellite TV cell phone.
