Samsung MP3 Ringtones

Samsung MP3 ringtones typically need to be converted to the standard format for HiFi ringtones in Samsung cell phones, which is MMF.

Many Samsung cell phones also support MIDI files, which are still high quality ringers, but not as good as MMF ringers.

MP3 and HiFi ringers have been a wonderful success story. For example, T-Mobile has announced that it's customers are averaging four T-Mobile ringers per month (including downloads for polyphonic and monotonic T-Mobile ringing tones).

The company announced a high quality HiFi ringer service for cell phones back in October 2004, which supports Samsung e105, Samsung e715, and Samsung V205.

Additionally, one MP3 ringtone site, ToneThis.com, lists the Samsung phone models that support MP3-quality music files as ringers as: Samsung A500, Samsung A600, Samsung A620/VGA1000, Samsung A660, Samsung A680, Samsung A700, Samsung D410/415, Samsung E105, Samsung E316/317, Samsung E715, Samsung N400, Samsung P107, Samsung S100/105, Samsung S300, Samsung S307/308, Samsung V205/206, Samsung X105, Samsung X426/427.

Samsung MP3 Ringtones - Web Sites

One of the best ways to get Samsung MP3 ringers is to browse some of the available web sites that offer free MP3 ringtone content. Then, using converters, get them to your Samsung cell phone.

There are several databases of free MP3s out there for ringtone content, from sites such as mobileplayground.co.uk.

Also, cellphones.about.com from About has an inhouse composer, Martin Plante, who makes free ringers for Samsung and other cell phones, downloadable from the site.

You can also find free Samsung MP3 ringtones as test ringers from many commercial ringtone sites. These test ringers are an important part of the service, as the free downloads are there to test whether your cell phone supports that type of ringtone.

There are tools that assist you to easily convert the Samsung MP3 ringers to the format your Samsung can use.

Samsung MP3 Ringtones - Converters

The available converters for Samsung MP3 ring tone file conversion include:

.Wav to SMAF converter (wsc-ma2 by Yamaha)
SMF (standard MIDI) to SMAF Converter (ssc-ma1 by Yamaha)

Remember that the typical size limit for HiFi-quality ringers for Samsung phones is at 40kbs or 32kbs.

You can also make your own free Samsung HiFi ring tones from full length MP3 songs by using such tools as Audacity, Cool Edit Pro, Windows Sound Recorder, and the converter.

First, you use Audacity to copy the part of the song you want as a ringtone (saved as .WAV). That file is then edited with Windows Sound Recorder (typically by increasing the volume, say by 50%, depending, however, on the quality of the saved sound clip).

The saved file is then converted for sample rates of either 8 khz or 16 bit mono levels with the Cool Edit Pro. This step may be unnecessary for the newer versions of the SMAF converter, which improves sound quality.

You also typically need to use the Noise Reduction level edit to make the ringtone sound better, before saving the file.

The modified file is then converted to the correct format with the SMAF converter. These free Samsung real music ringtones are then uploaded to your phone

You can also convert existing databases of free Samsung MIDI ringers to .MMF files, but many Samsung phones also support MIDI ringtones. Free Samsung MIDI ringtones are available from such sites as 3gupload.com.

In similar fashion, you can convert some of the available free WAV ringtones, from sites such as nextpimp.com, first to MP3 format, then to MMF.
