Samsung DVD Recorders

Samsung DVD recorders have relied on DVD-RAM technology ever since the DVD Forum first approved the standard in the late 90’s. However, the company has started to supports the DVD-RW format as well.

Samsung has said that it aims to be among the top three digital A/V technology companies in the U.S. As part of this “Digit-all: everyone’s invited” strategy, they have constantly pushed the envelope on digital technologies.

And the Samsung recordable DVD players have a central part in this campaign.

Features in Samsung DVD Recorders

As an early mover in recordable DVD technology, Samsung has always relied on DVD-RAM.

However, DVD-RAM technology is incompatible with most available DVD players, which is why the company also has DVD-R recording mode (widest reported backward compatibility available) in the devices (and lately DVD-RW as well).

The DVD-RAM technology allows for a live picture pause and replay, while the recorder continues to record in the background.

Also, Samsung uses progressive scan technology, which allows for a clearer and sharper picture when used with digital TV sets.
