Ringtone Converters

Ringtone converters make it possible to have a wide selection of ringers to your phone if there is otherwise only a limited availability out there.

When you find a ringer tune in one format, but find the tune unavailable in format that your cell phone understands, it is still possible to convert the tone to make it work on your cellular phone.

And because there are many ringtone standards out there (almost all the major manufacturers have their own one), converting from one format to another is gaining popularity.

Of the older ringtone audio files, you can make conversions between different polyphonic ringtone formats, mainly to MIDI. It's also possible to convert MIDI to MP3 format, which is convenient if you have a large existing collection of MIDI ringers prior to purchasing a MP3 cell phone.

However, keep in mind that most MP3 phones also support polyphonic ringers.

For the newer ringtone audio formats, if you find a ringer in a WAV format, for example, you can easily convert that tune into MP3, for example, if your phone requires MP3 files.

Available Ringtone Converters

Some of the polyphonic ringtone converters that have been made available to the public can be found from Coding Workshop and others.

The most popular ringtone converters in this category are Mobile Music Polyphonic, ToneSwap Converter, and Nok2Phone.

For polyphonic ringers, you should primarily look at ringtone converters with MIDI to ringtone conversion.

It is no secret that some of the biggest ringtone content creators for polyphonic ringtones have made their selection with ringer converters. Sometimes, if the original file is of low quality, this process results in low quality end-products.

If you work with key-press ringtones, some of the ringer converters provide MIDI to text format conversions. This way, your available ringer selection can expand from virtually none to thousands in a snap.

For real music ringtones, you can basically work with any MP3/WAV/AAC audio converter available. These tools include Switch, which is a free download from www.nch.com.au/switch/.

Switch converts a variety of different audio file formats including wav, mp3, ogg, flac, aac, wma, au, gsm and dss formats into mp3 or wav.

If you have a large database of ringers to convert, it's no problem with Switch, as it supports conversions of up to 32000 files in one batch.
