Ringtone Composers
Ringtone composers are a convenient way to make your own ringtones or mix your own version of the current ringer hits. There are three main ways to compose ringtones.
First, some cell phones have an internal ringer composer that you can use to compose the tune you’d like to use. Secondly, there are composers on the web that allow you to compose a ringer, which will then be sent to your cell phone wirelessly. And finally, you could download ringtone composer software to your own PC, allowing you to compose and mix your own tunes. Internal Cell Phone Ringtone Composers You might be the most familiar with internal cell phone ringer composers, found in many (older) handsets. Of the newer cell phones, Motorola has embraced the idea of having internal composers in handsets, with their MotoMixer DJ unit. With the MotoMixer unit, you can make your own mixes of polyphonic ringtones. Luckily for Motorola owners, the MotoMixer unit is also available online, where you can make the mixes and then download the tunes to your cell phone. Some older Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones also have internal composers. Ringtone Composers on the Web Online web composers have been a natural part of ringer business in Europe, but have not gained popularity in the U.S. However, even in Europe, far less than 10% of downloaded ringers from these services are self-made in composers. Most older online composers for monotonic ringers let you place notes on a musical scale, then pre-listen to the final result. For most services, this ringer is then sent over the air to your cell phone. One of the most popular online web composers, however, is the Motorola online ringer service, for polyphonic ringing tones. In addition to composing ringtones, most of the popular web services let you compose picture messages and logos as well (a logo or a pic message is much easier to make). Downloadable Ringtone Composers to Your PC As of late, downloadable composers have gained in popularity. In fact, because the popular multimedia messaging services are capable of attaching voice messages to pictures and text, the popularity of composing and mixing your own music and voice is going to raise further. As an example, Kyocera provides MP3 software that enables you to mix and compose your own ringers. Then there's Ringtone Ripper, software that allows you to make a 20 second ringtone out of any full-length MP3 song or CD track in your music collection. In fact, you can make your own MP3 ringers with many audio editor tools out there, including freeware/shareware, such as Audacity, Switch, and Cool Edit, all of which are free downloads.
