Professional Canon Digital Cameras
Professional Canon digital cameras have been sold since 1987 in the Canon EOS SLR camera range. Today, there are four camera models in that range.
The EOS System includes a range of 35mm and digital camera bodies, lenses and accessories, designed to work togetherand incorporate new technologies as they emerge. In fact, Canon has a unique reputation for bringing the latest technologies into their range of professional digital cameras. This fast concept-to-market time is enabled by the fact that Canon is the only company in the world that designs, develops and manufactures its own cameras, lenses, image sensors, and image processors. Also, the company shares research andinformation among development teams, and keeps the entire creation and productionof a digital camera product in-house. Professional Canon Digital Cameras TechnologiesOf the advanced technologies, the professional digital cameras from Canon use the latest in sensor and processor technologies to ensure the highest quality images. For example, Canon has developed its own CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) sensors to record digital images. Compared to CCD sensors, which amplify signals only after they have been transferred to an image processor, CMOS sensors convert and amplify signals beforethey are transferred. Canon’s CMOS sensors have a unique on-chip noise reduction technology, for film-like images, and with limited power consumption,at professional-level speed. The cameras also feature Canon’s DiG!G(Digital Imaging Integrated Circuit)chip that enhances the signal-processingassociated with image capture. The DiG!G chip usage results in improvedimage quality and a more responsive camera. The latest-generation DiG!G II Image Processor works with Canon’s newest CMOSsensors to achieve even higher levels of performance.
