Prepaid Wireless Phone Plans

Prepaid wireless phone plans offer great value for those that make cell phone calls infrequently.

The prepaid plans available from most of the wireless carriers offer an easy way to start calling with cell phones: there is no contract, no credit check, and you pay for the minutes in advance.

What you don't get, are the many perks associated with post-paid wireless phone plans, where you pay monthly fees and pay for any extra usage at the next wireless bill, if you go over the allocated anytime minutes on your plan.

These perks include free accessories, free cell phones, and free mobile entertainment services.

Providers of Prepaid Wireless Phone Plans

Almost all the cell phone plan companies offer prepaid wireless plans. However, this is not their core offering, and only about 10% of callers in the U.S. use prepaid plans.

When choosing a prepaid plan, there are several important things to note on your contract.

First of all, do make comparisons on the calling rates between the providers of prepaid plans.

Even if you do call irregularly, the minutes tend to add up very quickly, so do choose the best $$$ value for you minutes.

Another thing to consider is how the minutes expire. Some have long expiration dates, while other plans may have the minutes expire very quickly.

Depending on your situation, a longer expiration of the anytime minutes is usually the better choice, all other things equal.

You should also consider the ease of how you can add minutes to your prepaid phone. The easiest of these services allow you to add minutes online, while others may make you go to a wireless store to add minutes to your plan.

Depending on how you value your time, this can be a significan factor on choosing a prepaid wireless phone plan.
