Philips DVD Players

You can find Philips DVD players as basic players, multiple players, recordable players, and as DVD/VCR combinations. The low-price subsidiary of Philips, Magnavox, also has Philips technology under the hood.

Philips was one of the pioneers in developing DVD technology (although they failed to fully monetize the DVD boom from chip sales perspective).

The same innovative approach has continued, with Philips leading the way in recordable DVD formats (with DVD+R/+RW technology at DVD+RW Alliance).

Philips is also strongly positioned for the next-generation blue ray DVD technology market.

However, the alliance that Philips is part of had a set-back, when DVD Forum decided to back up a competitive blue ray technology developed by Toshiba and NEC.
