PC Computer Sales Increase


Global PC shipments from manufacturers increased a strong 10.3 % in the first quarter of 2005, compared with the same period last year.

The shipments rose to 50.4 million units, up from 45.7 million in the same quarter last year.

For the first quarter, 2005, Dell was the no.1 PC brand globally with a 16.9 % market share (for a total shipments of 8,522,000 units). Dell's unit sales were up 13.7 % from the same period last year, according to Gartner, who reported the results.

On the second place was HP and IBM was third globally.

When looking at shipments in the United States, Apple was 5th with 571,000 unit shipments, or 3.7 % U.S. market share.
