Panasonic DMR E75 Review

Here's a Panasonic DMR E75 review of this recorder that has been available in stores since March 23, 2004. Includes features comparisons, analysis of value for money, and pointers for competitive offers.

This DVD recorder is a great first purchase for those moving from VCRs or DVD players to DVD recorders: the DMR E75 has an integrated dual DVD recorder / VCR recorder unit combo.

What you can do with this combo is to easily dub home movies and VHS tapes onto DVD-RAM or DVD-R discs.

Also, you can as easily record from DVD discs back to VHS tapes.

The DMR E75 also has support for CD-R/RW discs as well as MP3 digital audio.

So, if you're a VCR-only owner currently, thinking ahead, your other option might include a DVD player and VCR combo, but with that combo, you'd probably find yourself upgrading within a year or two.

In comparison, the DMR E75 DVD/VCR recorder combo will keep its value as the centerpiece of any home theater system for many years (unless you want to upgrade to high definition DVD recorders as soon as they're available).

Panasonic DMR E75 Review - Features

In addition to being a great unit for recording to tapes and DVD discs (DVD-RAM and DVD-R), this is also a versatile DVD player.

Great sound/video playback is guaranteed by the combination of progressive scan and Dolby Digital and DTS output.

Also, viewing experince is heightened with the DMR E75 due to the features that DVD-RAM has.

For example, there's a feature that allows you to watch a program currently being recorded from any point (that's already been recorded), while the recorder continues to record the program in the background.

You can also record a program onto a disc while you're watching other program that has previously been recorded on the same disc.

Other features include:

* Supported playback formats DVD-Video (NTSC), DVD-Audio (2-channel), DVD-RAM, DVD-R, VHS videocassette, red book CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 CD* Supported recording formats DVD-RAM, DVD-R, and VHS tape* One-touch dubbing from VHS to DVD or DVD to VHS* Input TBC, 3D Y/C Separation, 3D Noise Reduction, Block Noise Reduction, Mosquito Noise Reduction* 5 recording modes: XP/SP/LP/EP/FR

Panasonic DMR E75 Review - Competition

Competition, with similar features, for this DVD-VCR recorder combo include:

* Sony RDR-VX500* Zenith XBR413

The Sony RDR-VX500 offers DVD+RW/+R and DVD-RW/-R, multi-format recording compatibility, and has an i.LINK interface for DV/Digital8 camcorders, which allows you to easily view/edit your home videos with the recorder.

Meanwhile, the Zenith XBR413 has multi-format playback and recording (DVD±R/RW and VHS), easy editing, picture in picture (PIP), enhanced connectivity, progressive scan video output, 4 head Hi-Fi stereo, and VHS picture improvement.
