Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Announced

Nintendo has announced that they will launch Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in November, which will start a new era of social gaming with Nintendo consoles.

Initially, the Wi-Fi technology will be used with Nintendo DS unit.

From home, if you already have a Wi-Fi network, the Nintendo DS unit will connect directly to it with minimal setup procedures.

If you have a broadband Internet connection, but no wireless network, you can use the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, sold separately, that will plug into a computer USB port to create a wireless access point to connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Outside of the home, you will be able to connect in a number of different ways, including thousands of free Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection hotspots nationwide.

As stated, Nintendo DS is the first Nintendo system to connect via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

However, looking forward, the same service will be incorporated into Nintendo's next-generation home console, code-named Nintendo Revolution at this point, set for launch during 2006.
