Nextel MP3 Ringtones

Available Nextel MP3 ringtones include the company's own ringtone service, offered in association with Zingy. Instead of MP3, many Nextel phones use the WAV format, which has sound quality comparable to MP3.

However, at least the i710 and i860 phones support the Nextel MP3 ringtones format, which means you don't have to convert the available MP3 ringers to WAV format with these phones.

For WAV format, the method by which many get their free Nextel WAV ringers is to convert the available MP3 ringers to WAV format.

For many, the first place to go for Nextel HiFi ringing tones is the official ringtone service, located at nextel.com/downloads.

That site has much of the same content as you'd find from zingy.com, another web site for Nextel real music ring tones.

In addition, if you want free content, there are free ringers available as test MP3 ringers.

These test ringers are an important part of the service, as customers can test their cell phones ringtone capability with the test ringtone.

Also, there are an increasing number of web sites hosting ringtone downloads from visitors.

These services allow web site visitors to upload their free Nextel MP3 ringing tones to the site, which are then made available to the public.

One of such sites is located at nextpimp.com, which has, in addition to the free Nextel real music ringtones, wallpapers, and games. Another is located at nextelrepairs.com.

However, perhaps the widest selection of free MP3 ringing tones is available from Walmart's Music Store. That store has the latest hits and lots of older songs as preview MP3s of the CD tracks (of 30 second length. Don't go to the music downloads section for the previews, however).

To get the Walmart MP3 ringtones to your cell phone, first save them with a right click and "save as" combination to your desktop, then use cables/phone manager software to upload the ringers to your phone.

Or, use Bluetooth to upload without cables. Finally, you can also upload the files to a WAP site and then use your phone to retrieve them wirelessly.

Nextel MP3 Ringtones - Converters

If you have access to free MP3 ringers, you can convert them easily to the WAV format, if your phone requires that format.

For example, these tools are available at mp3towav.org. Another good MP3 to WAV converter is Audacity.

With Audacity, you can highlight any part of your favority MP3 song and convert that clip to WAV format.

When doing conversions, the WAV files for Nextel phones must typically be 8000 hz 8 bit mono files and generally under 25 sec in length, given the memory constraints.

To get MP3 ringing tune files to convert to the WAV format, there are such web sites as the Walmart Music Store and mobileplayground.co.uk, the latter which mainly offers free MP3 ringer downloads to your desktop.

When you download the ringers to your desktop, you have to then upload them (after conversion) to a WAP web site and then download them using your cell phone.
