MP3 Ringtone Converters

MP3 ringtone converters convert AMR, AWB, WAV, and MMF formats, for example, into MP3.

To do the conversions, there are not too many universal tools for the specific ringtone formats and MP3. Instead, you may have to rely on phone management tools that also work as converters.

Most of the phone management tools, such as Nokia Multimedia Converter, are free downloads.

If you need to convert between MP3 and WAV, you have a lot of options to choose from. For one, you can do the conversions with such free downloads as Switch (available from (www.nch.com.au/switch/)).

The software converts a variety of different audio file formats including WAV, MP3, OGG, FLAC, AAC, WMA, AU, AIFF, MSV, DVF, VOX, ATRAC, GSM, DSS and other formats into MP3 or WAV.

If you have a lot of files to convert to/from MP3, that's not a problem with Switch, as it supports up to 32,000 file conversions in one batch.

MP3 Ringtone Converters - AAC, AMR, AWB, and MMF

Even though the majority of real music ringtones are in MP3 or WAV format, there are also cell phones that support other formats.

These formats include AMR and AWB, which are used with multimedia messaging (MMS). Of these, AWB files are of higher quality music than AMR.

To do the conversions between MP3 and AMR/AWB, you can use the Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0.

An up-and-coming ringtone format is the advanced AAC, which is one evolution up from MP3. To do the conversions between MP3 and AAC, you can use converters like Switch.

The same applies to the popular WMA format.

There is also the MMF file format (SMAF in fact, short for (Synthetic music Mobile Application Format), which has been developed by Yamaha, for multimedia content on hand-held portable devices.

To do conversions between MP3 and MMF, you first need to convert the file to WAV. From MMF, you can do so with SMAF converters found from SMAF-Yamaha.com.
