Motorola MP3 Ringtones

Motorola MP3 ringtones are available for Motorola MPx200, MPx220, V3, V180, V220, V265, V505, V551, V600, and V710 models. In addition to supporting MP3 ringers, MPx200 and MPx220 models support also Motorola WAV ringtones.

If you'd like to make your own ringers (in polyphonic format), you can find the MotoMixer DJ software in the V3, V180, V505, and C650 Motorola phones.

In fact, during the past several years, Motorola has introduced four different ringtone formats in its cell phones, ranging from EMS (Enhanced Messaging) monotonic ringers to the advanced Motorola MP3 ring tones.

How to Find Motorola MP3 Ringtones

For one convenient service, you can download MP3 ringtones directly from the Motorola ringtone service, which is operated in association with Handango, and some of the content is from Moviso (an InfoSpace company).

You can pay for the ringers (which cost $3.00 per tone) with a credit card.

All in all, the Motorola ringer service, at motorola.handango.com, has over 220 MP3 ringtones to choose from.

The service supports downloads to GSM networks operated by T-Mobile and Cingular.

To get MP3 ringtones you purchase, you must currently be able to receive text messages and have data services enabled on your phone. If you cannot currently receive text messages, or browse the Internet on your phone you may need to enable these services with your carrier.

Making Your Own Motorola MP3 Ringtones

Instead of paying $3.00 for every MP3 ringtone, you can easily make them on your own.

One way to make 20 second ringtones from any CD track or MP3 song you have is to download and use a software tool called Ringtone Ripper (a free download).

You can also use other audio editors, such as Audacity, to make your own MP3 ringers.

You should consider making the ringers about 30 seconds in length, as the calls will be transferred to voice mail after about 30-40 seconds of unanswered ringing.

There are also pre-made MP3s available from online sources for that song length. For one, there is Walmart Music Downloads Store, which has thousands of hit MP3 songs in 30 second/235 KB file format.

These are actually previews of the tracks in the CDs, but also make great ringtones for Motorola phones (don't go to the music downloads section for the previews, however).

Once you've got the ringers onto your desktop, you need to upload the ringers to your cell phone with Bluetooth/cables and phone manager software.

Alternatively, you can upload the ringers to a wireless web page, then download the ringers with you cell phone. You can also try to send the ringers as an email attachment to your Motorola phone.
