Laptop Security Risk Survey Announced

There's a new laptop security risk survey available from Websense, in which 500 European IT managers were surveyed for laptop security issues.

According to the results, more than 70 % of the surveyed IT managers recognise security risks for viruses and spyware, once the mobile laptop is reconnected to the company's network.

However, the alarming finding is that just over 20 % take measures to protect their organisations’ networks from unmanaged mobile laptop usage.

The majority of the IT managers in the survey see the responsibility of unmanaged mobile laptop usage to the employees, even though most see this as a potential source of vulnerability for the company's security.

This survey highlights the threats that counterbalance the possibilities laid out by such advanced technology as current laptop computers can offer.

However, if left to the employees, there should be at least guidelines to decrease the potential laptop security threats from unmanaged mobile laptop usage from employee laptops.
