Laptop Ratings

Laptop ratings sites include Epinions, Amazon, and Circuit City.

Epinions
www.epinions.com/PC_Laptops--~all

This is one of the most popular opinion sites on the internet, meaning people can give their own opinions on laptops, in contrast to many magazines, such as PC World, where you can read one editorial opinion.

The benefits of reading such reviews and ratings (star scale) is that they form a wider range of view points, typically on longer period of use, and if a product is really unusable, you will find out soon enough by reading some of the reviews.

Amazon
www.amazon.com/Notebooks-Computers-Add-Ons/b?ie=UTF8&node=565108

The Amazon rating and review system was one of the first ones on the web, and still has perhaps the most customer reviews and ratings available.

The ratings are based on 1 to 5 star scale, but you get the details from the reviews.

On top of the customer reviews, many products also have an accompanying editorial review, which, however, typically only highlights the good points about the product (as Amazon tries to sell these items).

Circuit City
www.circuitcity.com/ccd/category.do?catOid=-12963

The site uses customer created reviews on a 1 to 5 star scale, in categories of

  • Display
  • Performance
  • Battery life
  • Cost-Benefit

There are also accompanying reviews, which give insight into how the ratings where given.
