Laptop Docking Station

Laptop docking station and port replicators allow for extra functionality and connectivity for a notebook.

When you get the extra ports to be used with the laptop witha docking station, your laptop will feel more like a desktop computer when it’s used at the workdesk.

Many laptops that are priced at the entry level are meant to replace a desktop computer in terms of power and functionality, also meaning that most have enough ports so that you can go without docking stations.

However, one you go the lightweight, ultra-portable way, the extras are spared to save weight, thus making them ultraportable.

These lightweight laptops are the more likely ones where you need docking stations.

That is why docking stations are typically sold to the corporate customers, as such customers need the FireWire and USB ports that docking stations and port replicators provide.

At homes and home offices docking stations may come handy as you can connect your desk keyboard, mouse, monitor, power and speakers to the docking station and then just put the laptop in or out as needed (instead of using the 5 or more connections directly at the laptop, saving time and effort).
