Laptop Desks

Laptop desks differ from traditional computer desks in many ways. Because the laptops themselves are used a lot out of the office, these desks provide a range of flexible solutions, from car stands to mobile office desks.

These desks are designed to be used where laptops are used, and most to be easily stored when the laptop is not in use. However, if the laptop is primarily used as a desktop replacement, traditional computer desks work just fine.

The type of material used in these computer desks is usually laminate, but you can also find models made of wood or metal. Metal is the most durable of these materials, but these desks also weight the most.

There are several things you should consider when buying a desk for a laptop. What kind of desk suits you best is dependent on how you use the laptop. Below are guidelines to some of the most common ways to use laptop desks.

Currently, some of the manufacturers producing desks for these categories are Balt, Picco, Navigator, and XBrand.

Mobile Laptop Desks

If you want a mobile desk solution that can also be used in presentations, you should be looking for lightweight stands/desks that can be folded into a carrying position.

Also, because the desk will be used in various situations, including giving presentations, the desk should be fully adjustable for height (and not just with folded/unfolded option). Another great possibility is to get a desk with fully adjustable angle.

Laptop Desks for In-Office Use

If you don’t need to carry the desk around, the available office desks for laptops are a bit bulkier. With these desks, look for storage space, as you would in a normal computer desk.

If the laptop desk is used in a home/small office environment without shared printers, look also into models with additional space for a printer unit.

In addition, look for convenient wheels, so that the desk can be easily moved in-house. Even with these models, look for adjustable height in the desk, as it usually comes very handy when working with a laptop.

Laptop Desks for In-Car Use

If you have a laptop GPS system, a laptop desk/stand for in-car use is essential. With it, you can tilt the laptop to an optimal position to view the graphical driving instructions.

Usually, laptop GPS systems are sold without stands for in-car use.
