Internet dating fraud has gained reputation on agencies that list foreign women seeking friendship or marriage, typically from Eastern Europe and Russia.

To research these types of crimes there are now anti-fraud units, "black lists" of agencies, and task forces to combat fraud.

The Russian Internet dating/marriage industry has had several cases of recurring frauds.

To battle these frauds, there are now black lists of cases and women that have been known to mislead their suitors, in most cases in hopes of money.
