Internet Dating Etiquette

Internet dating etiquette provides some useful guidelines for contacting other people in online dating services One of the first things about online etiquette in general is that if you’re making a presentation of yourself, spell-check your writing. Grammatical errors can make your first expression fall flat.

It’s the same thing with your photo. A good, clear photo that shows who you are, without any added special effects shows respect towards those that browse the photos and read your profile.

Internet Dating Etiquette – Contacts

Much of the rules for online dating etiquette govern how you contact other people in the online dating services. For email correspondence, using one stock email to every interesting match will very probably read like you haven’t really paid attention to the profile of the person you’re contacting.

So actually reading the profiles and then paying attention to what’s being said in those profiles and corresponding with that in mind is just good manners, and will probably get you much more attention than a bulk, generic email.

Also, your first email should be an introduction of yourself to someone whose profile you’ve read, so you should probably keep the content within similar boundaries as your own profile describes you.

Also, when contacting, it’s good etiquette to correspond to those that seek what you have.

For example, if a woman is looking for a man of ages between 30 and 40, and you’re a 24 year old man, you probably should not contact her, as your profile does not correspond to what she’s looking for, on the very basic level.
