High Speed Internet Canada

High speed internet Canada is, by legal definition, at least 1.5 Mbit/s speed.

The list of broadband companies offering services in Canada include:

  • Shaw
  • Rogers Cable
  • Videotron
  • Cogeco
  • Eastlink
  • Bell Sympatico
  • Telus
  • Sasktel
  • Colbanet
  • TekSavvy
  • ElectronicBox
  • Novus
  • Velcom

The largest of the DSL providers in Canada is Bell Sympatico.

Bell has a combination of optical fibre networks, DSLAM and Customer Premise Equipment to offer to their end customers throughout Canada.

Most other DSL providers Don't have a comparable network infrastructure and instead use lines provided by Bell through a service called "Dry DSL".

As of May 2008, the basic ADSL is still the predominant technology while ADSL2+ is emerging as the new standard.

However, in British Columbia, Alberta, and partially Quebec, the biggest broadband company is Telus, competing with Bell for market share.

Other major players for DSL services include Sasktel (in Saskatchewan) and MTS (in Manitoba).
