Gateway Laptops
The tradition of Gateway laptops, of offering a wide variety of choices for affordable prices and with a good support, dates back to the incorporation of Gateway in 1985.
With these features, it competes fiercely with Dell for similar customers among business and home laptop buyers. Gateway has been the less successful of the two, especially in laptops, despite being the first to offer PCs online (back in 1995). Gateway also offers good financing options, something that has won it supporters especially from small businesses in a start-up phase. Gateway bought the up-and-coming company called eMachines in early 2004, with hopes of generating strength in the consumer retail channel. However, the sales of the combined unit have been reportedly surprisingly weak, in an downward trend. Gateway notebooks are bundled into 5 series, each of which is described below. Gateway Laptops – M320 Series The Gateway M320 series offers ultrathin and light notebook designs for highly mobile users. The keywords here are performance, integration and extra long battery life. Gateway Laptops – M405 Series These Gateway notebooks feature Mobile Intel Celeron and Pentium processors for better mobility at a great value for money (prices for many of these models start under $1000). Gateway Notebooks – 450 Series In comparison to the M405 series, these laptops offer more features, better performance, at a higher price. Gateway Notebooks – M520 Series The series offers scalable all-in-one designs for the desktop replacement market. Gateway Notebooks – M675 Series The M675 series offers the power and graphics of a high-end desktop. However, these laptops are packed with the portability and convenience of a notebook.
