Gateway Computers
Gateway computers are marketed with much of the same direct-channel tactics as employed by Dell. However, Gateway hasn’t been as successful with this strategy as Dell has been.
Founded in 1985, Gateway has grown from a two-person start-up to a multibillion-dollar Fortune 500 company that it is today. The current Gateway is going through a lot of changes, much of it started by the acquisition of eMachines, one of the world’s fastest-growing, most efficient PC makers. Gateway hopes to gain much of the same efficiencies in its overall production. However, the modern day Gateway offers much more than just PCs, with the product line including thin TVs, digital cameras, camcorders and systems and networking products.
