Free Motorola V400 MP3 Ringtones

You can make your own free Motorola V400 MP3 ringtones or download them from online services.

Motorola V400

This popular Motorola phone is packed with features, including quad-band support, VGA camera, MP3 ringtones, speakerphone, and mobile Java support.

Of the fun features, the V400 supports both MIDI polyphonic and MP3 real music formats. There is also a built-in MotoMixer ringtone composer to make your own polyphonic ringing tones.

Cell phone companies that offer the Motorola V400 include Cingular and Cellular One.

Because the Motorola V400 supports the universal MP3 standard for ringers, you can download these ringers from services that are even meant for other manufacturers' phones.

For free downloads, the content items, free MP3 ringtones, are typically first downloaded to your desktop, then to the cell phone with cables/Bluetooth (with Bluetooth add-on, as it is not included in the basic package for V400), and phone manager software.

Available free downloads for MP3 ringtone content include: mobileplayground.co.uk, gallery.mobile9.com, and nextpimp.com.

Making your own MP3 ringtones from your CD and MP3 collections is not hard at all.

There are now tools that can automate much of the editing process from a full-length MP3 song to a MP3 sound clip used as a ringer.

One such tool is the Ringtone Ripper that promises to turn all your CD songs and MP3s to 20 second MP3 ringtones, for free.

Generally speaking, you should keep the ringers about 30 seconds in length, as after 30-40 seconds of unanswered ringing the call will be transferred to voicemail.

There are also resources with ready-made content with MP3 files of this length. For example, there is the Walmart Music Store, which has thousands of 30 second MP3 clips of the latest hits.

These files are actually MP3 previews of the tracks on CDs, but also make excellent MP3 ringtones (don't go to the music downloads section for the previews, however).

To get the MP3 previews to your desktop, simply use right mouse click / "save as" combination.

These are typically about 235 KB files, so you may have to cut the size of the files by editing them. Reducing bit rate (e.g. to constant 64kbps), which reduces sound quality, for example, cuts the file size.
