EMS Pictures

EMS pictures are part of the Enhanced Messaging Service capability found in selected Sony Ericsson, Siemens, and Motorola cell phones.

In fact, EMS offers you the ability to send, not only pictures, but animations as well.

The pictures and animations can be downloaded from the web, stored in the cell phone, and edited with selected phones with the keypad.

You can insert multiple enhanced pictures and animations into your EMS message, and also in combination with sounds and melodies and styled text.

The number of pictures your cell phone can store is dependent on which cell phone you have.

Downloading and Using EMS Pictures

Especially Sony Ericsson has made partnerships with third party content providers to supply enhanced pictures and ringers. In addition, you’ll find promotional campaigns from companies using EMS ringers and pictures.

In order for you to be able to get EMS content, such as pictures, you’ll need an EMS phone and a cell phone plan supporting downloads (EMS is based on SMS technology).

The recipient's cell phone has to also support EMS in order for the message to be displayed correctly. For non-EMS phones, the message is displayed as text (or not at all).

As all display sizes are not equal, the enhanced messaging picture that you send to another phone might be displayed differently at the receiving end.

If the recipients screen size is smaller, the picture will be truncated (for too wide pictures) or it will be scrollable (for too high pictures).

EMS Picture Editor

Because the amount of enhanced messaging pictures is limited in WAP/Web services, at least some Sony Ericsson cell phones have an internal EMS picture editor for you to make your own pictures.

In addition, the cell phones contain pre-installed EMS pictures (in 16x16 and 32x32 formats) that you can use on your EMS messages or edit to suit your taste.
