Eminem Ringtone Lawsuit

According to ABCNews, Eminem ringtone lawsuit is directed against five major ringtone companies, Cellus USA, FanMobile, Nextones, MyPhoneFiles and MatrixM. Going against ringtone makers by artists is nothing new, in fact.

Many years ago, Madonna and ABBA stopped some of the ringtone makers from distributing their songs as mobile ringing tones.

The reasons back then, however, were different. The ringers, monotonous beebs, sounded terrible, and the artists did not want to have their work used in that way.

Now, the artists mostly want to stop unauthorized downloads of snippets of their songs to be used as ringers. That is, they want to get paid for the downloads.

Also, according to news sources, Eminem is also going after karaoke companies that haven't gotten the necessary copyright agreements to distribute Eminem songs.
