Electrostatic Air Purifiers

Electrostatic air purifiers need regular and periodic maintainance to operate effectively.

These air cleaners contain negative ion generators that charge the airborne particles. Then, the particles are attracted to charged metal plates or household surfaces.

According to American Asthma and Allergic Foundation of America (AAFA), to operate effectively, these types of air cleaners need regular maintainance. In addition, these are seen to operate less effectively even at the beginning.

Available Electronic Air Purifiers

There are electrostatic purifiers available from several manufacturers, including Friedrich.

The Friedrich electrostatic cleaner works in four stages:

An air cleaner pre-filter catches larger particles as room air is drawn through a rear grill

In the electronic cell microscopic particles become electrically charged as they pass through a electric field

Then, collector plates attract these charged particles

Lastly, an activated carbon filter removes common odors and fumes and the conditioned air is circulated back into the room

Other manufacturers include Electrolux and Ionic Breeze.
