DVD Audio Recorders

DVD audio recorders use the DVD-Audio recording format, introduced in 1999 by Panasonic. To record your own DVD-Audio discs, you’ll need an authoring software and a compatible DVD recording device. Currently, virtually all software and devices that enable DVD-Audio recording are aimed at the audio recording professionals.

The DVD-Audio format has many advantages over CD. For example, it has room for more channels, allowing for a surround sound experience.

In addition, DVD-Audio allows for a range of sampling rates and bit depths. Flexibility for the recording professional is also increased with the option for different formats on different tracks.

The discs can also contain other media besides DVD-Audio.

Available DVD Audio Recorders Gear

To make your own DVD-Audio recordings, you’ll need two things:

* Software for DVD-Audio authoring,* DVD recording device that the DVD-Audio authoring software supports (plus a blank disc)

For the software, there are some titles available to choose from. For the first, there’s Sonic Solutions that has introduced software titled Sonic Studio HD and DVD Creator.

Sonic claims that the Sonic DVD Creator, for complete DVD solution, is the only DVD production system to include support for all of the major DVD-Video and DVD-Audio sound formats. The company also claims that more DVDs are produced using DVD Creator than all other workstations combined.

Combined with Sonic Studio HD, the main package for audio, the package consists of award-winning technology used to create soundtracks for movies and releases on CD.

The Sonic Studio is made for Macintosh system and the company recommends using a DVD-R recording device.

There’s also DVD-Audio authoring software available from Minnetonka (at minnetonkaaudio.com), under the DiscWelder brand.
