Download Free Ringtones for Virgin Mobile

You can still download free ringtones for Virgin Mobile, although the company's focus has been on providing exclusive, premium priced ringtones.

Since the company's launch in the U.S. in July of 2002, Virgin Mobile has been doing phenomenally well in the ringtone business, counting for about 8% of U.S. ringtone market for commercial ringers.

Part of the success is due to the fact that Virgin has secured exclusive ringtone deals with such record labels as Universal Music and Island Def Jam.

These (polyphonic and monotonic) ringers have been only available directly from Virgin.

The situation has changed with Superphonic (a.k.a. Real Music) ringtones that are basically MP3 snippets of full-length MP3 songs.

Therefore, as MP3 files are widely available for free (there are free preview MP3 snippets and you can copy any CD track to a MP3), you can easily make or download these MP3 files to your Virgin Mobile MP3 ringtone capable phone, such as the Kyocera Flash V7 (CDM-8910).

Downloading MP3 ringers is somewhat more complicated process than doing it simply over the air.

To get them free, you mostly need to download a MP3 ringer to your desktop, then to your cell phone.

This process would be really easy if the V7 would support Bluetooth. Unfortunately, it does not.

Therefore, you may need to rely on data cables and phone manager software to get the ringers to your Kyocera.

To find MP3 ringers, one great place for free, 30-second music snippets is the Walmart Online Music Store.

These music clips are actually previews of the CDs sold at the online store (don't go to the music download section for the preview MP3s, however).

To find the MP3s from the store, simply do a search for the artist whose MP3 ringer you'd like to feature on your cell phone.

Then, simply click on the CD image to get to the MP3 preview section for that artist (not all artists have MP3 previews for their songs available however).
