DMRe100HS
The DMRe100HS from Panasonic has a sizable, 120GB hard disk drive, progressive scan playback, and DVD-RAM recording capability.
Because the DVD-RAM format is one of the least compatible with existing DVD players, Panasonic has also added the capability to record onto a DVD-R disc format, which reportedly enjoys the highest backward compatibility of the available formats. The machine also has a FireWire port, plus slots for a PC and SD card. The unit also has some basic editing capabilities, but these capabilities are no match for editing home videos on your PC. The capabilities come with a somewhat higher sticker price, but you'll enjoy the advanced recording flexibilities of hard drive & DVD-RAM recording. Panasonic DMRe100HS Features Because of the hard disk drive unit, you can store temporary recordings to the hard drive and more permanent holdings into the DVD-RAM disc. If you like to share discs with friends and family, the DVD-R format recordings will work on most players. The hard drive offers some advanced features, such as TimeSlip feature, which allows you to play the beginning of a program while recording the end, for example. The unit has 480p progressive scan playback, with outputs of component, S-Video, or composite video. With the SD card and PC card slots you can play your digital photos on the TV and store them on the hard drive.
