System Setup of the DirecTV Service First of all, the parts of the DirecTV system comprise of a 18" Satellite Dish. This dish consists of a mounting foot, support arm and the actual dish. The access card descrambles the programming and authorizes the customer's programming selection. There’s also a remote control. The remote control is a universal remote, meaning it can be programmed to operate the TV, VCR, a surround sound system as well as the system. Finally, there’s the owners manual/instruction manual.
