Computer Jobs

There are many online tools that can help you land computer jobs. Some of the tools are more specifically targeted at the computer field, while others are generic job portals.

Usually, the best mix in a job search is to use both the generic job portals as well as the specific computer job resources. This way you can get both specific advice as well as the maximum number of job listings on your field.

Some of these tools also help you prepare for a job interview, by giving you background information on the company you're applying to, and by giving interview tips. Some even include an insider section, where employees of the company give tips of what's required to ace the interview and what areas should be given more weight in the application.

Computer Jobs - Job Portals

For the more generic portals, there are plenty to choose from. These sites include:

monster.com

jobs.com

hotjobs.com

careerbuilder.com

Monster.com is a NASDAQ listed company, and titles itself "World's #1 hiring management resource". The company was founded in 1994 and operates now in 20 countries around the world. Jobs.com is a Monster.com company with a slightly different interface to work with.

HotJobs.com, meanwhile, is a Yahoo! company. As a merit, the online site was voted by job seekers the "Best General Purpose Job Board for Job Seekers" in a survey conducted by WEDDLE's in Feb. 2002. In addition to the popular consumer job board, HotJobs provides employers and staffing agencies with progressive recruiting solutions and hiring management software.

Finally, CareerBuilder.com titles itself as the "Nation's Leading Recruitment Resource", due to its presence in more than 130 local newspapers and more than 26 million unique visitors to its newspaper websites each month.

Computer Jobs - Specific Web Sites

Of the more specific, computer job oriented web sites, at least the following offer wide job listings in this field:

computerjobs.com

computerwork.com

justtechjobs.com

dice.com

ComputerJobs.com provides its visitors with computer-related job opportunities and career-related content organized into 18 vertical skill sets and 19+ major metropolitan markets.

ComputerWork.com, established in 1995, focuses on the needs of computer professionals in finding jobs and developing their careers. Their resume posting system allows you to notify their membership of your availability, allowing you to position yourself for the future.

JustTechJobs.com is an online community for IT recruiters, employers, and job seekers.

Finally, Dice.com is a large, perhaps the leading online provider of online recruiting services for technology professionals. In February of 2002, Dice won the first-ever WEDDLE's User's Choice Awards for Best Specialty Job Board for Recruiters and Best Specialty Job Board for Job Seekers.
