Chicago Cell Phone Ban Vote Delayed

The ban to talk to a cell phone without a handsfree device in Chicago, a proposal that was backed by the Chicago City Council's Traffic Committee report, was planned to go to the City Council meeting for an approval vote.

However, now that vote has been delayed, as the originator of the handsfree requirement, Chicago Alderman Burton Natarus, has delayed the vote to a May Council meeting.

According to Ald. Natarus, there are only few people on the Council currently opposing the ban, and instead of letting them delay the vote to the May meeting, he chose to do it himself.

Currently, it seems likely that the proposition, as backed by the City Council's Traffic Committee report, will go through in the May vote.
