Cablevision Broadband

Cablevision broadband, titled Optimum Online, has 1.2 million customers for the high speed Internet service.

The Optimum Online service works through fiber-optic cable wires, not phone lines, as DSL does.

The firm behind the service is Cablevision Systems Corporation, a NYSE listed company.

The company has a portfolio of operations ranging from high-speed Internet access and digital cable television offerings to professional sports teams. The cable television operations serve more than 3 million households in the New York metropolitan area.

The cable Internet service has very fast maximum downstream speeds of up to 10 megabits per second and 1 megabit per second upstream.

That's more than triple the speed of DSL at 1.5Mbps and more than 150 times faster than regular dial-up connection.

Available Cablevision Broadband Packages

The price you normally pay for the service depends on whether you already are a Cablevision customer. Bundled offers are normally cheaper than if you buy just the high speed Internet connection.

  • >b>Family or Above cable service
  • $44.95/mo.

  • Non-Cablevision Customer or Broadcast Basic Customer
  • $49.95/mo.

When you purchase a broadband package from the company, keep an eye on online special offers and rebates, which can save you a great deal of money.

In addition to the above residential offers, Cablevision's business division, Lightpath, provides fast broadband access with Business Class Optimum Online and dedicated access services with Lightpath Internet.
