Wi-Fi Broadband Zone Lists
Wi-Fi broadband zone lists allow you to find these high-speed wireless connection areas as you move around.
These hot spots are any location in which 802.11 (wireless) technology is available for use to consumers. Sometimes the wireless access is free, and sometimes there is a charge for the Wi-Fi usage.
There are two main types of hot spot lists online. For the first, the Wi-Fi service providers list the locations where you can use the technology, typically on their web site.
Then there are companies that simply aggregate all the available known hot spots into one big database for you to search. The accuracy of these databases ranges from very accurate to very inaccurate listings.
The most accurate listings are many times based on user submitted hot spots, which are based on experience.
Available Wi-Fi Broadband Zone Lists
The hot spot listing services are very helpful to travellers and travelling businesspersons in particular, as most mobile professionals need high-speed Net access on the go.
If you know the service provider you want to use, that company probably lists their hot spots in their coverage area in their web site.
For example, T-Mobile lists hot spots at t-mobile.com/hotspot/ (they have over 5,000 hot spot locations throughout the country).
If you just need comprehensive Wi-Fi broadband zone lists, there are luckily those with even international coverage.
These lists can be found from at least the following web sites:
- jiwire.com (has over 67,000 hot spot locations, over 18,000 in the U.S.)
- wi-fihotspotlist.com
- wifinder.com (over 12,000 hot spots worldwide, over 5,000 for North America)
