Desktop Broadband Tester
Desktop broadband tester is downloaded to your computer, and the program will test your broadband speed periodically.
Many of these broadband speed meters do other things besides testing the connection speed.
Some of these programs can save all features of your Internet connection, including how long the connection was active, and how much of the bandwidth was used.
Available Desktop Broadband Tester Programs
There are several commercial software packages that can measure your high speed Internet connection speeds, among other things.
These packages include:
- BBMonitor V1.2.1 from Absolute Futurity
- Line Speed Meter V3.0 from tcpIQ
The BBMonitor is a bandwidth meter that monitors your Internet connection real time and will store all data recorded into an MS Access database.
You can use the data in resolving problems with you internet connection.
BBMonitor will display a graph over time of your connection behavior. It will also show you real-time displays for upload and download speeds. You can check averages, peaks, and low points.
The Line Speed Meter, on the other hand, is a stand-alone, Windows, desktop freeware application that sits in your system tray and periodically measures the speed of your Internet connection.
The results are posted to the tcpIQ web server so that you may see how your speed compares against the rest of the broadband community. Download size for the program is at 4.7 Meg.
