Broadband Speed Meter

The available broadband speed meter tests will help you estimate whether your ISP provides the bandwidth they promise.

Also, if you're upgrading your broadband or dial-up connection with an connection optimizer software or service (such as onspeed.com), the speed meters will help you estimate the effect on your connection speed.

You should use more than one of these speed meters, as the results may vary greatly from one test to another.

When choosing the tests to use, you should go for those services that are located as near you as possible.

This way, the distance between the server used for testing and your computer will play a lesser role in the results.

Your test result for bandwidth speed may also be affected by the following factors: performing other downloads and the speed test simultaneously, or executing programs that use your bandwidth to monitor other resources.

You can also use tests/speed meters that are downloaded to your desktop. These meters monitor the connection continuously as you're connected to the Internet.
