Broadband Radio
Broadband radio station streams are available from around the world.
Internet radio has been one of the most successful areas of broadcasting lately, with thousands of hobbyists building up their own broadcasts over the Net.
However, many of these broadcasts are low quality, and don't require very high transmission speeds to be heard over the Net.
The true broadband-level radio broadcasts are CD quality streams of the music, talk, and radio shows.
For best selections of radio stations, take a look at some of the services that compile lists of the available stations.
These compilations include:
- windowsmedia.com/radiotuner/
- shoutcast.com
- live365.com
There's also a premium radio channel service from AOL, titled Broadband Radio@AOL.
Broadband Radio - Radio@AOL
The Radio@AOL is an enhanced, built-in radio service for AOL's broadband subscribers.
The service has 125 high-quality radio stations, with mixture of programming. Some of the programming is provided by AOL, but most comes from other stations.
The radio service is powered by Ultravox technology, a streaming platform developed by AOL. This technology provides quicker player load times and reduces buffering.
The radio service also includes access to live streams from terrestrial radio and online partners of AOL, such as AP News, KCRW, WDST, WOXY, KPIG, WFMU and sportingnews.com.
