Blue Yonder Broadband

Blue Yonder broadband (Blueyonder) is a high speed Internet service from Telewest, a major UK broadband provider.

Telewest broadband services start from 14 pounds a month, making them some of the cheapest broadband connections around.

In fact, the broadband prices Telewest have been at the same level as dial-up services from competing companies, which mainly use telephone lines for Internet connection.

Telewest broadband is based on cable Internet. They have been very successfull in signing up new customers for all of their services.

As at 30 Sep 2004, Telewest had 1.77 million residential customers.

Of these 1.3 million took their cable TV service, 1.6 million took their residential telephony service and 538,000 took their broadband internet services sold under the Blueyonder brand name.

76% of Telewest customers subscribe to two or more services and 24% subscribe to the triple play service offering of broadband internet, telephony and television.

Blue Yonder Broadband - Packages

The main broadband packages from Telewest Blueyonder for homes are:
  • Blueyonder 256k/£14.99 a month
  • Blueyonder 750k/£25 a month
  • Blueyonder 1.5Mb/£35 a month
  • Blueyonder 3Mb/£50 a month

Their flagship product, with download speeds of up to 3Mb, is up to 60 x faster than dial up. It's also marketed as the UK's fastest home cable Internet service.

The service has all the advantages of broadband. These include being always on, so there's no need to dial-up, and with a separate connection to the Internet, your phone line won't be tied up while you're online.
