The Upcoming Alltel Satellite TV Service

Alltel satellite TV service promises to be provide a good bundled service package to the existing and future customers of Alltel. In addition to getting just one bill for both local telephone service and Dish Network satellite TV service (and possibly other services, such as broadband or wireless), this bundling of services should result in lower prices for the consumers.

Echostar, the company behind Dish Network, has previously done similar deals with SBC Communications Inc. and CenturyTel Inc.

The bundle for SBC is called SBC DISH network, and is available to SBC's 55 million telephone customers in 13 states.

In addition to adding services to their customers, Alltel has also been part of the telecom mergers and acquisitions game, as it announced earlier this year a deal to buy Washington State-based Western Wireless Corp.
