Air Purifier HEPA Filters
Air purifier HEPA filters offer very high level of air purification, up to 99.97%, for pollutants from 0.3 microns. The term HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air. The specification was reportedly designed by the Atomic Energy Commission during WWII. The original purpose was to classify efficiency as to how efficiently radioactive plant exhausts were retained by the filter.
The same type of classification may be found as an S-Class filter specification. Different types of other filter specifications include ULPA (Ultra Low Penetration Air), which specifies filters used in pharmaceutical labs and similar types of environments where the highest degree of clean air must be maintained. An ULPA filter must collect particles to 0.12 µm in size with efficiency of 99.999%. Available Air Purifier HEPA Filters There are several types of air purifiers with filters available in the HEPA category. These HEPA purifiers are made by such manufacturers as: Miele Hunter Eureka Lindhaus These manufacturers have somewhat different approaches to using HEPA, with some using completely sealed systems, while others may use only HEPA type of filtration, which meets the HEPA standards for air quality. You can buy these systems from the companies own online stores, or look up some of the larger resellers, including Amazon.com and Sharper Image.
