Air Purifier Filters

There are many types of air purifier filters, but the ones that you can use depend on the type of air purifier that you have. The types of filters you can use are typically listed in the user's manual of the air purifier.

The air cleaner may in fact use several stages of filtration, of which each may require separate changes of filters.

For example, there typically might be pre- and post-filters as well as a separate gas filter or filters.

Air Purifier Filters - Manufacturers

Many of the manufacturers of air purifiers make the filters as well for their devices. The development and manufacture of some standardized filters, such as HEPA filters, however, is commonly done by separate companies, such as 3M.

HEPA is perhaps the most popular filter technology, at least in the high-end models. HEPA filters are made by such manufacturers as:

Miele
Hunter
Eureka
Lindhaus

Some manufacturers of air purifiers don't actually use HEPA filters, but use HEPA type of filtration, meeting the HEPA standards for air quality.
