$ 100 Laptop

$ 100 laptop was the original vision behind the One Laptop per Child project (OLPC).

The project originally aimed for a price of 100 United States dollars by 2008, but as early as 2006, the sights were set at price levels of $135 to $140.

The actual prices for the first deliveries in 2007 were started at US$188.

Later, the project started a "Give 1 Get 1" project, where a purchase of one laptop lead to a free one sent to a developing nation, and the XO-1 laptop delivered to the donor was valued at $199 by the OLPC Foundation.

On May 20, 2008 OLPC released plans for the 2nd generation XO laptop.

The XO-2 (or XOXO) is targeted for 2010 to start at the cost of $75, well under the original target price of $100.

The next gen version will have two multi-touch displays, with one of the screens operating as a keyboard.
